Catfishing
Catfishing means creating a fake identity on a dating app or social network — someone else's photos, a made-up name, or an invented story — to build a connection that wouldn't happen under a real identity. Motives range from loneliness to financial fraud.
It differs from an ordinary fake profile in that a catfish often builds a long-term, elaborate relationship. A classic warning sign is refusing a video call or an in-person meeting.
