Fake profile
A fake profile is a dating app account that doesn't belong to the person in the photos, or that misrepresents key facts like age, job, or appearance in order to deceive someone. Motives range from harmless insecurity to fraud.
It can be spotted through a combination of signals: photos that look too perfect, pressure to move the conversation off the app quickly, and a story that doesn't hold together.
